Grand Masti set for August-end release (10:51 AM June 20th)
It was the year of 2004 when Masti set a trend by presenting the hot topic of adultery in a new and refreshing light by giving a rip roaring insight into the lives of 3 married men having an extra marital affair to spice up their lives. Now after a hiatus of 9 years, taking forward the legacy of the brand, the Masti team is back again with a sequel Grand Masti which promises to be bigger, funnier and dhamakedaar.

Post completion of its shoot, Maruti International's Grand Masti has cleared the Indian Censor Board and is all set for an end August-early September release. Confirms Producer Ashok Thakeria, "Grand Masti is a sequel to India's first Adult Comedy, carrying forward the tone set in the first part. I'm sure the audience will not be disappointed as we have taken this film many notches higher than its original flick. "

Director Indra Kumar's laugh riot Grand Masti will see the trio Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani once more on the big screen with their superb comic timing and funny antics and as many as 6 young fresh female faces in the lead.

The cast comprises of Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, Manjari Fadnis, Karishma Tanna, Sonalee Kulkarni, Kainaat Arora, Bruna Abdalah, Maryam Zakaria, Suresh Menon and Pradeep Rawat. The story and screenplay are by Milap Zaveri and Tushar Hiranandani.


Sneha Khanwalkar is out of action due to fractured arm (10:35 AM June 20th)
Nomadic music composer Sneha Khanwalkar who wowed listeners with her new-age sound in Gangs Of Wasseypur has been missing from action in spite of all the raves and wah-wahs for her eclectic sound that she culled and collected from all across the world.

In fact producers desirous of the most innovative music composer of Indian cinema since A R Rahman have been wondering where to find the Wasseypur ki Womaniya.

Well, now it can be told. The shy Sneha has been out of circulation since March because of her fractured arm.

Says Sneha, "Can you believe it? On Women's Day (March 8) I fell right on my right hand. So I've been nursing my arm for the past three months." Sneha's hand would heal not before July. But let's make it very clear that she is not interested in doing another music score until she is fully convinced about it.

Says Sneha, "I've a makeshift studio. I'll go wherever it takes me. I am still very new to the rules of Bollywood. There haven't been too many female music composers here, have there? Actress Nargis' grandmother Jaddanbai was a well-known music composer. And then there was Usha Khanna. If now I am seen as a new female composer in Bollywood, I have a lot to be pleased about."


SLB partners with Viacom18 for Gabbar Mary Kom (10:35 AM June 20th)
Viacom 18 today announced its association with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Productions. Viacom18 and SLB are coming together to co-produce two highly anticipated projects Akshay Kumar starrer Gabbar and Mary Kom's biopic starring Priyanka Chopra. Gabbar is a remake of a Tamil blockbuster Ramana to be directed by Krish of Vedam and Gam Yam fame. The Mary Kom Biopic is directed by Omung Kumar.

Commenting on this development, Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures, said "We are pleased to partner with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and proud to be add Gabbar and Mary Kom to our slate. This step reflects our belief in venturing boldly into associations with passionate, likeminded partners to deliver great content."

Bhaag Milkha Bhaags Pakistan release dilemma (04:32 PM June 19th)
Whether it's because of an objectionable dialogue or some other content that had miffed lawmakers, Bollywood filmmakers have had a tough time releasing their films in Pakistan. Time and again, certain dialogues or scenes are highlighted out of context, and this eventually results in the film being banned there.

One look at the upcoming trailer of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (BMB) and it seems that the film might be treading on those lines. A sneak peek of the trailer reveals that Milkha Singh (played by Farhan Akhtar) refuses to go to the country as he lost many of his family members in the riots following the Partition of India in 1947. Apparently, even the name of the film is derived from the last words Milkha's father spoke to him (during the Partition).

In the scene, Farhan tells Dalip Tahil, who plays Jawaharlal Nehru, "Mujhse nahi hoga. Main Pakistan nahin jaaunga". The movie traces Singh's journey from a region that is in present-day Pakistan to India. He later represented India at international athletic meets.

As Singh's childhood in Pakistan is prominently shown in the film, such a dialogue in the trailer might impact the release of the film there. Ask the production company Viacom about this, and the spokesperson of the film says, "BMB is a biopic of a living legend. Some facts cannot be altered or changed. Milkha Singh had refused to go back to Pakistan. So, if it affects our release, we won't be able to do much."


Dil Chahta Hai Tarzan in Ghanchakkar (02:34 PM June 19th)
Ghanchakkar which is already turning out to be quite a crowd puller for its quirky plotline, is now added on some more intriguing elements like the title track of Dil Chahta Hai and also a song from Kimi Katkar starrer Tarzan.

While UTV has bought the rights of these two songs, director Rajkumar Gupta will only be using 10 to 15 seconds of the Dil Chahta Hai track and some portions of the Tarzan number. The director also said that he will be using these songs in an ironical and comical manner.


Shreyas Talpade and Manjari Fadnis in Wah Taj (01:16 PM June 19th)
Pun Films Pvt. Ltd. and Spider Wave Films announced the completion of shoot of the Shreyas Talpade and Manjari Fadnis starrer Wah Taj, directed by debutant Ajit Sinha, jointly produced by Pawan Sharma and Abhinav Verma.

An interesting humor laced thriller about one man's struggle against the establishment set against the very picturesque and romantic Taj Mahal, Wah Taj was shot primarily in Agra and Bhopal with a short schedule in Mumbai. The movie explores and depicts Agra in a way never seen before on celluloid.

"The script of the movie is very honest and relatable, so I needed a seasoned and earnest actor like Shreyas to do justice to the role. The experience of shooting this film was monumental. Additionally, I must commend the entire cast and crew of this film who, despite being from different parts of country, came together brilliantly with their collective experience and creative input, enabling the final product to be par expectations," says director Ajit Sinha.

The film is slated to release towards end 2013.

It may make juicy copy to say Abhishek Bachchan would be paired with Kareena Kapoor in Umesh Shukla's untitled film.

But regrettably, it is not the truth.

Pooh-poohing a report on Saturday in a tabloid that Kareena is "seriously considering" director Umesh Shukla's offer to star in his next with Abhishek , Umesh says, "I've never in my life met Kareena Kapoor, let alone offer her a role. The closest I've come to her is while sitting some rows behind her at awards function. I've never approached her for any role."

Aghast and amused Umesh says, "The tabloid's imagination takes my breath away. According to them I had an hour-long meeting with her and now I'm supposed to give her a full narration on Monday. All this is news to me. Obviously the reporter who wrote this article knows more about my activities than I do. Maybe I've been sleepwalking through my meeting with Kareena."

Umesh further informs there is no heroine for his film, nor a title. "I will approach a leading lady after I lock in the script this week. I've so far only finalized Rishi Kapoor and Abhishek for the film."

Why not Paresh Rawal after their amazing rapport in OMG Oh My God? "Because the personality and spoken language required in this film suited Rishiji more. But I will miss Pareshji immensely in this film. I will work with him again in the near future. That's a promise I've made to myself."


Sana Khan gets bail (11:29 AM June 19th)
Salman Khan's costar Sana Khan from his upcoming film Mental, finally can breathe easy after the acceptance of her anticipatory bail application. Sana, who will be making her Bollywood debut in Mental, was charged with attempted abduction.

For the uninitiated, Sana had been booked by the Navi Mumbai police for trying to kidnap a 15-year-old girl who had rebuffed her cousin Naved Khan's advances. While Naved and his two friends - Kshitij Gopinath Dubey and Vismit Vilas Ambre - were arrested, Sana had switched off her mobile phone and evaded the public eye.

Mental which is directed by Sohail Khan also features Daisy Shah and is slated for release in January next year.


Mental to release on January 24 (10:25 AM June 19th)
All the speculation about the release of the next Salman Khan starrer can be put to rest. Mental, Salman's home production which is a remake of 2006 Telugu hit Stalin, would be releasing on January 24.

The date coming from the within the core group of the Mental unit puts an end to all the speculation about the release.

This would be Salman's first major Republic Day weekend release. So far all of Salman's recent films have been released during Eid. But this year the superstar missed his Eid date because of health and legal issues.

Says a source close to the project, "After it was clear that Salman won't be able make it on his traditional Eid Friday, he urged Sohail to try for a Republic Day completion and release. And now the Eid release for Mental is locked in."

When contacted, Sohail confirms, "Yes, we're shooting continuously and our tentative release date is January 24."
