Ahana Deol wants to focus on fashion designing (05:09 PM May 25th)
Esha Deol's younger sister Ahana is all set to showcase her new designer collection today.

Ahana's new collection 'Summer Almost Gone' under the brand name of Divinorum will be showcased at The Club, Juhu, today and tomorrow. Her collection is a mix of casual summer and comfortable monsoon wear. It also includes an eco-friendly line of yoga mat bags, cushion covers and jackets under the name of Magic Elephants, as Ahana is a supporter of the go green cause and recycle is her mantra.

Ahana is currently on a break and will unveil her bridal line around Diwali. She also plans to launch her own fashion website so that she can take orders online.


Kashish 2012 starts on peaceful note (03:11 PM May 25th)
The organizers of 'Kashish 2012', India's only LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender) festival, are not just gay, but also happy and gay (no pun intended). The reason? Well, the said festival that started from May 23-27 has been received without any protest by anyone so far.

The organizers claim that even if protests do happen at the film festival site, they would reserve seats for the protestors so that they 'understand' what queer is all about. Pallav Patankar (one of the festival directors) said that this year, despite the fact that they have acquired permissions even from the Maharashtra Government's State Secretariat and the local police, they have not encountered any major homophobia. He also added that many government agencies were curious about the film festival. And when they understand the meaning of 'queer', they were more than happy to accept the same. While the theme of 'Kashish 2012' is 'For Everyone', this year also marks the third edition of the same. This year will see the screening of 125 films, all of which has been programmed in a manner where queer characters and queer stories are part of a larger narrative, which the organizers hope appeals to a wide cross section of audience.

Sridhar Rangayan (one of the festival directors) said that both the opening film Beginners and the closing film Weekend reflected the theme best. And the reason he stated was that they were necessarily queer films because they are love stories that are human. While Beginners is as much about Ewan McGregor and his relationship with his girlfriend as it is about Christopher Plummer and his gay lover, Weekend is about two people meeting over a weekend and falling in love. Rangayan also added that these films bridge the divide between queer and mainstream films, rather blur them. The organizers said that several celebrities were expected to not just participate, but attend the festival as well.

Meanwhile, Sridhar opined the organizers would love to have a queer film category within the mainstream film festival or have a queer award in a mainstream film festival like the 'Teddy Awards' at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Bipasha to start shooting for her next fitness DVD (11:52 AM May 25th)
For those who can never be tired of ogling at the sultry Bipasha Basu and her sexy figure, here's the good news that you all have been waiting for. After tasting success with her DVD titled 'Love Yourself' (which she shot along with Dianne Pandey), this 'Bong-shell' is now all geared up to shoot her solo fitness DVD from tomorrow.

When asked about the reason for going solo this time, Basu said that after exercising and working out for the last few years, she has developed an affinity to health and fitness and that she wants to share her endurance and stamina secrets and help make exercise fun for people. Bipasha plans to release the video around the same time as her forthcoming film Raaz 3.


RDB band member Kuly died of brain tumor (11:21 AM May 25th)
The international music fraternity faced a saddening loss with Kuly of music band RDB, passing away on May 22, 2012 in Houston, Texas, USA. The popular music group member sadly lost his battle with cancer at the young age of 35 years old.

Kuly was diagnosed with a brain tumor in April 2011 and underwent radio and chemotherapy. He was receiving treatment at a specialized clinic in Houston at the time of his death.

RDB and the family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time and thank their fans and well-wishers for their continued support and condolences.

RDB's facebook page has been opened up for those who wish to pay their respects to Kuly and his family.


Hindu-Muslim swap Shahid-Priyanka exchange communal vows (10:50 AM May 25th)
Kunal Kohli thinks there's no real problem between the two Hindu and Muslim communities. In his new film Teri Meri Kahaani, he has played a delicious double-identity game whereby Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra switch religious identities during the course of the narration.

Explains Kohli, "There are three different pairs of characters played by Shahid and Priyanka. In two of them they play a Hindu and a Muslim character. But they swap religious identities in the two sections."

While in the first story situated in 1910, Shahid plays a Muslim lover-boy named Javed and Priyanka, a Hindu girl named Aradhana, in the second story that unfolds in 1960, Shahid stars as a struggling music composer named Govind while Priyanka plays a Muslim actress named Rukshar."

In this way, Kohli wants to show how the religious identity and the problems that ensure thereof are of no consequence to him as a moviemaker.

Argues Kohli, "Why do we consider it a problem? It is not! As a thinking Indian and a responsible filmmaker, it is my job to show that the so-called differences are all a state of the mind. That's why I made the religious identity inter-changeable in my film. The two halves, the Hindu and the Muslim are changed in the two different segments of the film. I feel cinema needs to wean society away from prejudices. And what better example of communal amity than the movie industry?"

Interestingly, Kohli has named Priyanka as 'Radha' after his daughter in the segment of his film set in 2012.

Salman Khan to attend IIFA (12:00 AM May 25th)
After giving the IIFA award show a skip last year, Salman Khan is all set to attend the IIFA awards this year. The awards are scheduled to take place in Singapore from June 7 to June 9.

This year the awards are going to be hosted by Shahid Kapoor and a lot of top Bollywood stars are slated to perform at the IIFA extravaganza. Ace choreographer turned director Prabhudheva is all set to choreograph a few acts. However it's yet not known if Salman would also be performing at the event.

The actor is currently in Thailand shooting with Katrina Kaif for his forthcoming film Ek Tha Tiger.

Neerav Ghosh to direct thriller for iRock (05:08 PM May 24th)
Neerav Ghosh who directed the Rajeev Khandelwal-Soha Ali Khan starrer Soundtrack, which released last year, has now been signed to direct a movie for iRock Productions.

The CEO of iRock Productions Siddhartha M Jain, who is currently at Cannes attending the ongoing Film Festival, said, "I have signed Neerav Ghosh as I think he is very talented has a lot of potential. Neerav will be directing a thriller for us. It is a small budget film and is currently being scripted. We will start casting for the film next month."

The yet untitled film will be shot in Goa.


Neil tweets about his first horror film 3G (04:52 PM May 24th)
Neil Nitin Mukesh sure has his hands full with two important projects- Shortcut Romeo and 3G. While Shortcut Romeo starring Neil and Ameesha is complete and will release in September, the actor is currently filming for 3G in the Fiji islands.

Shedding more light on the film, Neil tweeted, "3Gthemovie is a horror! It reminds me of Gregory pecks "omen", harrison fords "what lies beneath", bruce wills "sixth sense" Horror is one genre I've always loved and wanted to do. Never heard the script of a classy horror until I was offered 3Gthemovie"

About his character Sam, Neil mentioned, "Difficult to hold the character of "sam" in 3Gthemovie. Everyday brings a new challenge. But that's what's exciting. Meanwhile we have completed 35% of 3Gthemovie. Its an exciting film with a great story line screenplay and visual treat."

The actor also shared a rather freaky incident that happened on the sets of the film. Neil tweeted, "Now for some anecdotes! So weirdly but true. So we were shooting at this one location which apparently is supposed to be haunted! And the unit boys did experience a presence. One of our light boys came running complaining that some one was standing by his side and passed right through him. At first we thought he was joking trying to create sensation but then when he sat trembling like a leaf is when we sat and heard him out."

3G is directed by Sheershak Anand and Shantanu Ray Chibber and has Sonal Chauhan paired opposite Neil.


Lara Dutta to star in Bejoy Nambiars David (04:47 PM May 24th)
Director Bejoy Nambiar has signed on Lara Dutta to play an important role in his upcoming multi-starrer David. This will be Lara's first film post-pregnancy.

Lara is now back in shape and ready to get back to work. She will start shooting for David by August. When contacted, Bejoy confirmed the news, "Yes, I have cast Lara Dutta in my film but I can't reveal any other details now. All I can say is that she plays a very important role in the film."

There are three stories in David, each featuring a protagonist named David. The film stars south star Vikram, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Vinay Virmani, Tabu, Isha Sharwani, Monica Dogra and Pralhad Kakkar.

Apart from this film, Lara has also started working on the pre-production of her second film under her home banner Bheegi Basanti, but she won't be acting in the film as she wants to concentrate on the production aspect only.
